The AMA Supermoto National Championship Series returns to action this weekend, June 17-18, for round two of the series held in conjunction with the 93rd annual Loudon Classic at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The series sweetened the pot for the New Hampshire round, so competition will be at a fever pitch to claim the cash up for grabs in the double purse.
Last year’s New Hampshire winner, defending Pro Open Champion Gage McAllister, was once again unbeatable in round one of the championship at Kern County Raceway Park. There’s been plenty of time in between the rounds for his rivals to prepare and try dethrone the man with the number one plate.
One of which is Eric Stump. East Coast by birth, Stump looks forward to returning to New Hampshire Motor Speedway and getting some redemption from a disappointing sixth-place finish
“I’m really excited and looking forward to putting my head down and going fast again,” Stump said. “Gage (McAllister) has two wins already so he already has a pretty good gap, but I’m looking to get ahead of him this round and even up the points a little bit.”
Pro Lites points leader Josh Jackson looks forward to getting back to the title chase at a new venue for the Californian. Jackson missed the round last year due to a schedule conflict – his wedding.
“I’m excited for Loudon after the long break,” Jackson said. “Especially coming off a win at the opener. I’ve been riding and racing as much as possible during the break so I can push even harder at Loudon and add to the points lead going into Sturgis!”
There is plenty of action on and off track as the legendary Loudon Classic is just one part of the Laconia Bike Week. There are demo rides and plenty of vendors for motorcyclists to take in on top of race action on track, which in addition to the AMA Supermoto National Championship Series includes the Granite State Legends Cars, which are powered by motorcycle engines, American Sport Bike Racing Association, Sidecar Racers Association and Loudon Classic’s feature event – the Middleweight Grand Prix on Saturdayafternoon. Following the feature event on Saturday night Jackl, the band that’s described as a blend between heavy metal and southern rock, will perform a 75-minute concert.
