Over the past several years Michelin and its affiliates has collected data on thousands of motorcycle tires to better understand the user habits surrounding tire pressure maintenance. Survey findings indicate that 19% of front tire pressures and 11% of rear tire pressures are underinflated compared to the pressures recommended by the motorcycle manufacturer. Simply put, the most avid motorcycle riders in the US often overlook this simple but important safety feature on their motorcycle.

In an effort to improve the motorcycle riding experience and promote important tire management techniques to riders across the country, Michelin is promoting its air pressure awareness campaign, which starts during National Tire Safety Week. Michelin invites all motorcycle riders and riding clubs to review a brief safety message about the importance air pressure motorcycle tire pressure, and share the flyer with fellow riders.

The goal of the campaign is to communicate ‘how’, ‘when’ and ‘why’ tire pressure impacts riding safety and pleasure, and to establish among all riders a habit of checking tire pressures regularly. As an added incentive, all riders and riding clubs are invited to promote their support of air pressure awareness via Instagram or Facebook, which serves as entry into the Michelin Air Care Contest to win great prizes!
